January 2011 - bit of everything!

January is a difficult month. People going back to work and funds have dried up due to too much wine and prawns being consumed over the Christmas break. A series of unfortunate events headed our way this month. Lack of funds saw us decided to go to a cheap but cute pizza restaurant. The special guest and one other member of the group couldn't make the night. So Charlie, Hannah and myself met early on a Friday night for some pizza and wine at Il Carusi, on Barkley St St Kilda. That's as far as we went. Then the rain set in. What a night to choose to go out to dinner, remember the night of flash flooding in central Melbourne, that's the night we went to dine. Like many of the houses and shops around St Kilda, Il Carusi's old wooden roof couldn't hold the rain, and the place flooded. We had just ordered entree and a bottle of wine, wine came out when all hell broke loos. We took our bottle of wine and waited out the front. The lovely waitresses were quick to get everyone out of the shop so no one was in harms way. The comped everything and wished us a good night. They handled the drama so well, so we were quick to return a week later and it did not disappoint.

The night didn't finish there, off to Claypots to go on the 2 hour wait list (still baffles me about no booking policies it would make life easier but I guess it ads charm), then to The Branch for one of the best and biggest espresso martini's i've had in Melbourne. No luck at Claypots, told it would be another half hour. So off for tapas at Ciccolina's. I know, we went here in December but it was what the night ordered. We all defiantly got lost in our conversation, food and wine because we all had no idea about what was going on around Melbourne, even our own houses were flooding. Proves that Ciccolina's is a perfect escape.

To yum things up: go out and drink espresso martinis when its raining, we have changed the rules of dinner party club - set the date at the next dinner NO CANCELLATIONS
